Filler Dissolving

Correct overfilled, uneven, or migrated hyaluronic acid filler with precise, physician-led hyaluronidase treatment at Biolite Wellness.

‍

Whether your filler was placed with us or somewhere else, our injectors use hyaluronidase, an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid, to soften or fully reverse results that no longer feel like you.

What is Filler Dissolving?

Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers like Juvéderm®, Restylane®, and RHA® are designed to be reversible. Filler dissolving uses hyaluronidase, a naturally occurring enzyme, to break down HA gel so your body can absorb it over the following days.

It's a precise way to correct filler without surgery and without layering more product on top of a problem. Please note: hyaluronidase only works on HA fillers. It does not dissolve biostimulators such as Sculptra® or Radiesse®.

Common reasons patients dissolve filler:

  • Lips that look overfilled, lumpy, or uneven
  • Puffiness, swelling, or a bluish tint under the eyes
  • Filler that has migrated past the lip line or treatment area
  • Cheeks, chin, or jawline that look heavy or no longer match your goals

How Filler Dissolving Works

Hyaluronidase breaks the bonds that hold HA filler together. Once it's placed precisely into the area of concern, it starts working within minutes, and your body naturally clears the broken-down filler.

1. Immediately after treatment

Expect mild swelling, redness, or tenderness at the injection sites. Some softening may be visible right away.

2. 24–72 hours

Most of the dissolving happens in this window as swelling settles and the treated area softens.

3. Two weeks later

We reassess your result. Dense or stubborn filler may need a second session, and if you'd like, we can plan a fresh, more natural approach.

Treatment Areas

We commonly dissolve HA filler in these areas:

  • Lips and lip border
  • Under-eyes (tear troughs)
  • Cheeks and midface
  • Nose (non-surgical rhinoplasty)
  • Chin, jawline, and smile lines

What to Expect

Your visit begins with a consultation and facial assessment, often using ultrasound to map existing filler. The treatment itself takes about 15–30 minutes. Afterward:

  • Mild swelling, redness, or bruising typically resolves within a few days
  • Apply a cold compress as needed during the first 24 hours
  • Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, and alcohol for 24 hours
  • Wait about two weeks before considering new filler or additional dissolver.

Questions & Answers

Yes. Many of our filler dissolving patients were treated elsewhere. We'll review your history, assess the area (often with ultrasound), and build a plan to correct it.

Hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvéderm®, Restylane®, RHA®, and Belotero® can be dissolved with hyaluronidase. Biostimulators like Sculptra® and Radiesse® cannot be dissolved this way.

Most patients feel a quick pinch and mild stinging that fades fast. Topical numbing and ice is available for added comfort. We also review your medical history and allergies before treatment.

Hyaluronidase starts working within minutes. Most of the change is visible within 24–72 hours, and your final result is clearest after about two weeks.

We recommend waiting at least two weeks so the tissue can settle and we can see your true baseline before planning any new filler.
